52" x 52" , Philadelphia, March 2001. Inspired by Judy Hopkins' Design Your Own Quilts. It represents aspects of the recipients' lives together: a move from the city to the country, friendship, taking a path in life that is not easy but very rewarding, all the while being able to see the sky in the path. The central mariner's compass symbolizes the ebb and flow of life, and serves as a helpful guide. Hand pieced and machine quilted. (Rafferty-King Collection)
