Background

Since discovering quiltmaking a decade ago, she has experienced a very different powerful creative outlet.

Originally from Brooklyn, New York Karoline has been greatly influenced by living in Paris and in West Africa. European and African aesthetics are a part of her experience and she tries to incorporate them into her work. She presently calls Philadelphia her home.

Educated at the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Art History and a Masters in Folklore and Foodways, she is a Humanities person at heart.

However, as her professional background is in computing, she

has recently return to academia to pursue a Masters in Computing and Information Technology.

Karoline's creative outlet has always been computing: program coding, database building, problem solving, and web and system design.

Since then, she has endeavored to make one-of-a-kind quilts of her own design. Her mix of analytical skills and a cultured artistic eye makes her quilts unique. She is presently the webmaster and an active member of the Heartstring Quilters Guild in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, and has been a member of the American Quitlers Society since 2002.
